HOW YOUR WHEELIE BIN COLLECTION WORKS?
Your wheelie bin collection works on an alternate week basis. IE. Collection of general refuse (Black Bin) one week and Dry Recycle (Blue Bin) the next week and so on.
WHAT CAN I PUT INTO MY BLUE WHEELIE BIN?
The blue wheelie bin is collected on a fortnightly basis for the collection of clean & dry paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, aluminium cans, food cans & tetra pak. Attached to the lid (or side) of your blue bin is a list of acceptable material to be placed in the bin. More detailed guidance is provided further down this page to ensure that everyone is aware of the full range of materials that can go into the blue wheelie bin.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WRONG MATERIALS IS PUT INTO THE BLUE BIN?
It is very important to place only the correct materials in the blue wheelie bin. If unacceptable materials are put into this blue wheelie bin it cannot and will not be emptied, as this would lead to the contamination of the entire load.
Please do not put dry recyclable materials into carrier or black bags in the blue wheelie bin (loose materials only) Please remove caps from all containers.
It is important to rinse out cans, tins, bottles and cartons containing any food residues as these materials can only be recycled if they are cleandry.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I PUT MY GENERAL REFUSE WHEELIE BIN OUT ON THE BLUE WHEELIE BIN COLLECTION DAY?
If you put your general refuse wheelie bin out on the blue wheelie bin collection day then IT WILL NOT BE EMPTIED. This is because the general refuse waste will contaminate the load of recyclables.
A calendar is supplied to each customer, indicating blue wheelie bin collection weeks. Your collection will always remain the same, look up the date of your next collection if the figure is highlighted in blue, you can put out your blue bin for collection, if the figure is highlighted in white then you can put out your general refuse bin.
